Getting to Ponta Delgada, S. Miguel Island

The Azores Islands are a Portuguese archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean, located about 1,500 km (930 miles) from Lisbon and about 3,900 km (2,400 miles) from the east coast of North America.

The participants can fly directly to João Paulo II Airport (PDL) at Ponta Delgada city, S. Miguel Island. There are daily flights leaving from Lisbon and Porto to S.Miguel Island, operated by several companies, as AZORES AIRLINES, TAP Portugal, RYANAIR and EasyJet.

It is also possible to fly directly from Canada (for example: Toronto) and USA (for example: Oakland and Boston) to the Azores. There are also direct flights from other European cities (for example: Munich, Frankfurt, Paris, London and Amsterdam) to the João Paulo II Airport (PDL). Getting from the Airport to the City

The João Paulo II Airport (PDL) is only a short distance from Ponta Delgada town center, so it’s a quick trip into the city. You can choose for a taxi, which takes about five minutes, or you can take a Shuttle Bus. The Shuttle runs approximately every 20 minutes, go to the main hotels in the city and the tickets can be purchased inside the airport.

VERY IMPORTANT:

- If you register for a Pos-Conference Field Trip (PCFT) be aware that you only need to book one way flight to Ponta Delgada city, the town that hosts the EGNAZORES2017 Conference.

- September is the high tourism season in Azores: please be sure to book in advance and in due time your flights and your accommodation, as vacancies and prices can change quickly and significantly.
